During this past school year I realized how much all of you as a faculty have grown in the field of instructional technology. We are moving forward with some exciting changes next year and I am excited to work with you to use the tool of technology more in your classrooms.

Welcome to your technology professional development website. I hope you enjoy browsing and using the resources posted here and I wish you success as you begin building your personal learning network and curating these tools and resources for your own use in your classrooms.

To start this journey together, I want to clarify the definition of technology integration. It would be hard to ask you all to acquire this knowledge not know why it is important to your working lives. 
For us at St. Mary, as we move forward with strategic planning and our technology initiatives, the use of technology in the classroom should be viewed as a tool instead of a set of skills. Learning programs is not the terminal goal of technology integration, but a by-product. The integration of technology into the classroom involves the use of technology to better explore content and as a way for students to express their understanding of that content.  Technology (i.e. computers, tablets, smartphones, the Internet) should be in the end as common place in our classrooms as notebooks and pens are now. With the completion of the e-learning courses provided here as well as discussion and access to updated resources, you will be armed and ready to tackle the world of technology integration.
